Our Story

Sunita Sarees is the outcome of a deep passion for premium quality apparel. It is the brainchild of Shri Rajkumar Chhaparwal, who came to Pune in 1979 in search of a better life. He landed a job at the renowned garment store of Dwardkadas Shamkumar, where he worked dedicatedly for 20 years. Sensing his sharp business acumen and enterprising ability, he was respectfully made partner in the clothing firm.

In 2006, Shri Rajkumar Chhaparwal started out with his own saree shop by the name Sunita Sarees in downtown Pune. Endowed with a deep understanding of the saree business and his ability to handle customers sensibly, the shop soon created a huge customer base. Expanding the business, he set up another store at Phursungi in 2008 and yet another shop at Somatne Phata in 2010. Rajkumar Chhaparwal’s sons Chetan and Akshay eventually joined the trade, bringing innovative ideas for expansion and growth. Elder son Chetan was partially involved in the business; he later joined full-time after finishing his education. Younger son Akshay also joined the firm after completing his studies.

Chetan ventured into production by setting up a manufacturing unit in Bangalore in 2018. He competently handles multiple responsibilities that include sales, purchase, and accounting. Akshay capably looks after marketing and brand promotion. With guidance and mentoring from their father, second-generation entrepreneurs Chetan and Akshay have truly taken the family business to the next level. They aspire to make Sunita Sarees a pan-Maharashtra brand by setting up own stores as well as franchise outlets in different cities and towns across the state.
